Day Seven: Fin
We arose with our alarm at around 3AM and I had to fight all my instincts that told me to fall back asleep. Thankfully, we had done most of our packing the day before, so all we had to do was shower and pack up our toiletries. We took one last look at our room, our home away from home, and said goodbye. We both knew we would miss it, but we also missed our home more. I’d love to say we got to our gate without incident, but TSA was a huge pain in the ass and both of us were flagged, along with everyone else before and after us. It seemed that the machine was making mistakes and flagged every bag coming in, so we all had to wait for our things to be hand searched. It was annoying and for sure added to our stress levels. Both of our Fitbits registered our heart rates at around 125BPM. Not a great way to start your day. After about an extra 30 minutes at TSA, we made it to our gate and tried to relax before our flight. Unfortunately our waiting area was packed, and it just added to our stress. Thankfully, all that changed when we got on our flight, because we were once again greeted by an incredible first-class experience. For breakfast, Gabby had an amazing French Toast, and I had a bacon and caramelized onion quiche. Both came with a croissant and a yogurt parfait. Gabby’s TV monitor didn’t work for some reason, so we couldn’t watch a movie together. I was lucky enough to escape into a world of food with the movie One Hundred Foot Journey. It’s a fine movie, but it’s about food and cooking, so I love it very much.
The flight went by incredibly fast, as did the second and before we knew it, we were back home in Virginia. The vacation was over and there really wasn’t anything bad about it. A couple of small misses, but we had no major incident for the entire week. Gabby and I both loved each other’s company and weren’t ready to be divided by the demands of work. This was more proof that we made the right choice by getting married and by choosing Vegas as our honeymoon. There are so many things we can say about the trip, and we will continue to do so. Look out for multiple tier lists coming soon, where we’ll have visual representations for what was awesome and what won our hearts. But that’s not what I want to end this blog on. No, I want to end it on gratitude.
We are both so very grateful for everyone that came to our wedding and for everyone that contributed to our honeymoon fund. We couldn’t have gone on this memorable journey without you, and we’ll never forget what you did for us. You recognized the love we have for each other and showed us both more love by making sure we had this vacation. Not a day goes by where I don’t wake up and look at where my life is. It used to be so much worse, and I’m grateful I, along with Gabby, worked hard to make both of our lives better. But that happened in part because of the amazing people in our lives that help and inspire us. And that’s all of you reading this. So thank you. For a week we had no real worries. No drama. Only fun, good company, good entertainment, and of course, damn good food!
